The pressure not holding is due to small dust particles being trapped, preventing an air tight seal inside the gauge. This can be caused by a number of reasons and it's not anything you did wrong. Luckily, there is an easy fix that works 99% of the time.
Please follow these instructions to quickly resolve this issue and get your gauge performing as it should:
BE CAREFUL WHEN UNSCREWING THE HOSE, THERE IS A SPRING AND 2 DISCS THAT CAN GO MISSING
** PLEASE ALSO REFER TO DIAGRAM ATTACHED **
Step 1 - Unscrew the unit from the mid brass stem to disconnect the air hose from the housing of the gauge.
Step 2 - Carefully remove the three internal parts that are near that connection opening: (1) black disc (2) clear disc (3) spring
Step 3 - Gently clean these three components by blowing on them to remove any small dust particles and/or lightly wiping with a clean cloth and a small amount of WD40 or similar cleaner/lube. The key is to remove any tiny dust particles that may be blocking the seal to prevent the pressure reading from holding.
Step 4 - Make sure gauge housing is facing upright, then re-insert the internal parts by first inserting the spring (wider end facing up), followed by the clear disc, followed by the black disc on top.
Step 5 - Re-connect the air hose to the gauge housing and check to see if the problem is fixed.
If this does not solve your problem, please let us know!
